Great follow-up and response by the Travel Company prior to paying for the trip. Following payment, responsiveness dropped off considerably. Disappointing, given the premium we paid. While in-country arrangements went off as planned, drivers barely spoke English; hence communication was difficult. This should have been anticipated by the Travel Company and appropriate arrangements made in advance. Had to repeatedly contact the Company to request appropriate drivers, vouchers for sights and train travel, etc. Vouchers reportedly were dropped off at our Rome hotel upon arrival, but we were not informed ahead of time and as such, never saw the physical package/vouchers; hotel disclaimed all knowledge.
The fact that we were traveling during off-season was abundantly clear/known. As such, putting us up at Radda in Chianti, an otherwise charming rural Tuscan town, where literally nothing was open shopping/attraction/food-wise, was not a good move. Couldn’t get any food the day of arrival there - the hotel and Travel Company were out of options too and tried to lay the responsibility at our feet as we had previously rejected costly car/driver option for the stay - as first time visitors we had no idea what to expect! Not the experience we had hoped for. Instead, we could have used another day or two in Florence (or a day in Siena), both of which ended up being rushed visits! Poor planning from experts who should have known. On our departure day, we received early AM notice that our connecting flight back home was canceled. As we were scrambling for options, contacted the Travel Company via WhatsApp, hoping for urgent advice and help. Delay in response was so significant that we proceeded to make alternate arrangements to travel home.
A few highlights - Gianni our driver during the first night on arrival in Rome was really good - he only had cryptic instructions from the Travel Company to drive us to the Gianicolo area for sightseeing, which he said would occupy no more than 1/2 hour! Instead he took it upon himself to give us a highlights of Rome by night tour, which was just perfect - again, poor planning by the Travel Company, redeemed by the kindness of a driver! Excellent driver/guide service provided by Rolant who picked us up from Radda and took us through Siena, Florence, Pisa, etc and dropped us off in Umbria. A thorough professional whose driving and overall company we absolutely enjoyed! Pasquale, the driver who drove us around in Napoli/Pompeii too was superb - a very helpful and gregarious young man, thoroughly enjoyed time spent with him as well.
Similarly, the bartender at Burgo Brufa Resort, Mirco, was excellent - friendly, accommodating, eager to please when we requested some food even after hours. Overall facilities, people and stay at Burgo Brufa/Umbria were top-notch!
Hotels throughout the stay were generally as promised. Silvia, our guide in Florence was very knowledgeable and friendly. Other guides, Andrea (Assisi), Flavia (Rome), and Claudio (Pompeii) were all good - enjoyed visits to sights with them.
Overall, a satisfactory in-country visit that could have been further elevated by an aware, engaged, and responsive Travel Company.
Based on this experience, would reflect deeply before arranging another tour with Travel Local.

Thank you to Guilio and his team at Italy Luxury Travel for curating a fantastically wonderful and memorable vacation. We started in Italy and visited the iconic historical sites in Rome. Then enjoyed a truly amazing experience shopping at a farmers market and making a delicious 4 course meal including homemade pasta. Next, we flew to Paris and visited the iconic Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Palace of Versailles. Our tour guides and personal drivers were top notch! We were treated like VIPs. Giulio and his team at Italy Luxury Travel gave us our dream vacation! We visited August/September 2021 after cancelling our initial plans to visit Italy for our 1st wedding anniversary in 2020. Everyone was incredibly supportive, responsive, and informative, from drivers to staff. They worked within our budget and made our dreams a reality, even getting us an upgrade at one of our hotels (a suite with an incredible balcony view overlooking Manarola) and booking us the best wine tasting and lunch I have ever had. We would have never found some of the places we visited on our own.

I was anxious travelling during the pandemic, and we booked things quite last minute as we didn’t know what the circumstances would be. They arranged a conference call to my wife and I in Australia and listened carefully to what we wanted to do. They arranged all the accommodation, private tours, transfers and hire car for our trip to Italy, Vienna, Budapest and Switzerland in August 2024.
We were allocated a personal agent who was available 24X 7 when we needed and Marta checked in with us every day and reminded us about meeting points, sent directions, recommended car parks, etc. We even had some gifts awaiting us in many hotel rooms.

We traveled with Italy Luxury Travel in 2019 for a custom trip through Southern Italy and Sicily--three weeks of non-stop adventures and fun. We had cooking classes, sightseeing, and an amazing driver and guides. Giulio also recommended the eastern Puglia area which ended up to be a fabulous recommendation!
